The American Columbia Sportswear aims to reduce its emissions by 30% by 2030

American sports brand Columbia Sportswear Company has released its 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, which includes performance highlights and progress made throughout 2021 across the three pillars of its corporate responsibility strategy. business – empowering people, supporting responsible places and practices.

Reduced emissions by the company’s manufacturing partners will help it meet its previously established manufacturing climate target of a 30% reduction in manufacturing emissions by 2030, compared to a 2019 baseline.

2021 proved to be another challenging year with operations around the world impacted by the pandemic, but ESG remained a priority for Columbia Sportswear Company.

Columbia Sportswear Company has released its 2021 ESG Report, which includes performance highlights and progress across the three pillars of its corporate responsibility strategy – empowering people, supporting responsible places and practices. Emission reductions by manufacturing partners will help the company meet its 30% reduction target by 2030.

“Despite the challenges, the company had its best year ever, and we did so while maintaining our commitment to environmental, social and governance issues. We have proven, once again, that by living our core value of doing the right thing, we can thrive and do well through our people, places and practices,” said Tim Boyle, Chairman, President and CEO.

The report highlights the work done by its four main brands: Columbia, SOREL, Mountain Hardwear and prAna. In 2021, Columbia Sportswear Company finalized a Carbon Leadership Project program and a Clean by Design program with two cohorts of Tier 1 and Tier 2 manufacturing partners to help partners reduce their environmental impact.

The company also launched the Coalition of Asian & Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group, bringing the total number of employee resource groups to seven. Two new water towers at supply chain sites were also built to bring clean drinking water to manufacturing partners and their employees with the Planet Water Foundation, bringing the total number of water towers built at 24. Community COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Portland, Oregon were coordinated and an education campaign urging all employees to get vaccinated was launched.

The company has also published a SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) Index, which discloses the company’s ESG efforts in accordance with SASB industry standards.
