Columbia Sportswear opens new outlet store in Tanger Outlets

Tanger Outlets in Howell Township has filled a vacant position, adding the outlet of a popular national clothing company.

Columbia Sportswear Co. opened at 1475 N Burkhart Road, Suite G270, in the mall.

Wyandotte’s Bill Wilson stopped by the store on Friday when it opened. He found a lightweight waterproof jacket which he said he would probably wear when camping.

“We did both in store and online, but with clothes on, I like to try on stuff,” Wilson said.

He said he’s more likely to buy clothes online when he knows a company’s products are well made and fit.

The mall has stores that sell manufacturers’ inventory, often at a discount.

Wilson said he thought paying around $ 14, plus tax, for the jacket was a steal.

The store offers clothes, shoes and accessories for men and women. Much of it is geared towards outdoor activities and exercise.

“With all of the lakes and parks in the state, Columbia Sportswear should be the first step in preparing for your next adventure,” said Kristy Hancock, general manager of Tanger Outlets, in a statement.

Columbia Sportswear Co. saw growth in the first quarter of 2021. CEO Tim Boyle, in an April statement, attributed the growth to direct-to-consumer e-commerce and wholesale sales.

The mall suite was previously occupied by Dressbarn. The company closed all of its 650 stores in 2019, including the Tanger Outlets outlet and one store at Green Oak Village Place in Green Oak Township. remains an online retailer.
