Amazon, Wish, eBay and Joom issue urgent recalls of toys, clothes and baby products

Toys, clothes and baby products sold by major UK online retailers are being recalled due to safety fears.

Alerts have been issued by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute following concerns that the items pose risks of asphyxiation, choking or chemical injury.

Amazon, Wish, eBay and Joom are among the companies affected by the withdrawals.

Products include a LED flash light bear, a baby carrier, a telescopic ladder, apercussion toy rhythm group set and magnetic building blocks construction toy.

They have all been removed from online marketplaces.

Here are the full details of each product and what you need to do if you have purchased it.

A recall notice has been issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standards due to a ‘high’ risk of asphyxiation.

The product labeled “I Love You Givedears Always Be With You” is described as a white teddy bear with a pink bow tie and colored LED lights shining through the teddy’s fur.

the reminder alert says: “The product poses a high risk of choking because the padded material of the toy is easily accessible through the zipper.

“A young child could remove the filling from the toy and put it in their mouth, blocking their airways and airflow to the lungs. (Children under 36 months are particularly at risk due to their mouthing behavior and their undeveloped or limited physical and mental maturation).

“This product does not comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.”

The Joom listing has been taken down by the online marketplace.

Amazon is recalling the Baobe baby carrier due to a “serious” risk of injury.

Product is described as listingark navy baby carrier, packaged in a cardboard box with a printed product image.

the reminder alert says: “The product poses a serious risk of injury because tests have shown that the fasteners that secure the shoulders to the body of the product come loose after five cycles of use and the product breaks.

“This poses a risk of injury to babies/toddlers as the safety straps may come loose during use of the product causing the baby/toddler to fall to the floor.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005

“We recommend that owners discontinue use of this product immediately. Contact the distributor you purchased from to request repair.”

The product has been removed from Amazon.

Amazon is also recalling the Day Plus – 3.2m telescopic ladder as it poses a ‘serious’ risk of injury.

He is described as a 3.2 meter silver telescopic ladder packed in a brown cardboard box printed with the Day Plus brand logo.

the reminder alert says, “This product poses a serious risk of injury to the user. In testing, the ladder failed functional dimensions, preconditioning, stile deflection, strength testing, rung strength, and strength to the pull-out test for the rungs as well as the torsion test for leaning ladders.

“This product does not comply with the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.”

The product has been removed from Amazon.

The third item recalled by Amazon is the Percussion Toy Rhythm Band Set Storage Backpack as it presents a “high” risk of exposure to chemicals.

Many musical instruments are contained in a yellow backpack with a green border.

It is identified by ASIN: B01N4M7ARJ and carton number: Y26-80300-08-SKU.

The recall alert reads: “The product poses a high chemical risk because the backpack contains an excessive concentration of phthalates.

“A young child playing with the toy is exposed to phthalates which can potentially harm a child’s health through cancerous or non-cancerous effects.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH 2008 implementing regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals).”

The product has been removed from Amazon.

A magnetic construction toy sold on eBay is being recalled due to a “serious” risk of injury and choking.

the reminder alert says: “The product poses a serious risk of injury as the magnets have been tested and found a magnetic flux rating of 139.67 kG² mm², exceeding the limit of 50 kG² mm².

“If two or more magnets have been swallowed, there is a risk that the magnets will be attracted to each other in the digestive system which could result in serious injury or death if medical attention is not sought. at once.

“The magnets also fit entirely within a cylinder of small parts which poses a choking hazard to young children. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011”

Listing with code 363184751133 has been removed by eBay.

the reminder alert says: “The product poses a medium risk of injury as the magnets have been tested and found a magnetic flux rating of 149.8 kG² mm², exceeding the limit of 50 kG² mm².

“If two or more magnets have been swallowed, there is a risk that the magnets will be attracted to each other in the digestive system which could result in serious injury or death if medical attention is not sought. at once.

“The magnets also fit entirely within a cylinder of small parts which poses a choking hazard to young children. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.”

the reminder alert says: “The product has been identified as presenting a high chemical hazard, risk of injury and choking because the button cell battery of the LED light is easily accessible to young children.

“Button batteries can be placed in the mouth and swallowed, posing a choking hazard to young children and causing damage to the gastrointestinal tract.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.”
